Gray pitches well, and the defense decides to join the offense in sucking.

That should be it for Gray. He pitched well. Hope...

At least Josiah had a really good outing.

But yeah, 4 hits, all singles.  Remarkable lack of power.   Record low HRs for a team since 1961 is the '79 Astros with 49.  But they had a four man rotation, and no starter had an ERA under 3.4, and only gave up 583 runs that season.  This team has a chance to come pretty close to that HR record.

Two more strikeouts for Meneses today in first two at-bats. Not looking good.

It's incredibly rare for a hitter to suddenly find his groove at that age.  Only player I can think of that's done it is Mike Yastrzemski, and he's solid, but no all-star.

José Bautista is the poster child for this type of player. He was 29 instead of 30 but that's close enough to still count I think.

Edit: Mike Yaz was 28 when he broke out so Bautista for sure counts then.

Pitchers have figured Joey out.  And no one else seems to have any power.

I'm watching the Colorado feed and they were surprised Abrams didn't try to steal. If he had he would of scored on the hit to center. Dave Martinez stinks out loud.

Thompson was a good pickup at the 2021 trade deadline.

If I’m reading the stats correctly he was 42 of 54 in the minors. Needs to steal more.  Does he have a green light from the manager?  Kind of question we should be getting from our media guys but have not heard it.

The good news is that the losses are over quicker this year. 2:18.

This team is possibly the worst professional team I have had the misfortune of watching. Bad hitters and bad pitching makes for comically bad baseball. I legit think we don’t win 45 games this year. I’m amazed we even have 1.

AND HOW BIG OF A LEASH DOES DAVEY MARTINEZ HAVE? He’s a terrible terrible manager.

I agree we wont smell 50 wins - and since we were in the lottery last year we cant get better than the 7th pick next year.

I doubt we could beat many tripple A teams.

The gloom and doom is hard to break through for sure. With ownership not bringing in any significant bats the team will be a bottom feeder again. Have to look for the bright spots. Like Gray’s performance today.  And Davey is not going anywhere. Handling the young guys is more important than strategy that might pull out a few more wins.

Gray is a bright spot for sure but man ot sucks knowing ownership is fine throwing this garbage on the field because we’re all gonna watch anyway :?

You know what PT Barnum said.  I think I will spend more time watching the minor league teams.  And tickets should be cheap when in DC this summer.

I think he lasts until the team is sold, or maybe the off-season after the team is sold.  I suppose if they came close to the 1988 Orioles start, they might can Davey to prevent the ballpark from burning down, but short of that, I don't see him not finishing the year.
