!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw his first start, 2011. Had nothing much, although he did hit a homer. Incredible that he still pitches.

not just a homer, but a homer of the very first pitch he saw in the big leagues. I wasn't there but saw it at a sports bar.

after a decent start yesterday (4.2IP, 3H, 2BB, 0Ks, 1ER), Milone DFAd by the Mariners.

Seems like he'd be an improvement over Kuhl

Why would the Mariners DFA a pitcher who given up only 1 ER over 4 2/3? Why start him once? I don't know anything about the Seattle team, but their pitching staff must be in weird shape...

Milone looks as good as Corbin and Kuhl. Maybe he has become a "crafty lefty". Best I remember from his first game, Milone threw his fastball at about 90 mph, so, by now...

The only thing I could think of is that they have someone returning from an injury and wanted to give him a chance to hook on with another team.

He’s probably out of options. He should clear waivers and head back to AAA

MLBTR says that Seattle replaced him with a rookie utility infielder, someone who might go back to AAA when another infielder returns:

Quote
It might be a short-lived stint in the bigs for Caballero, as Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times notes that the Mariners made the call-up since Sam Haggerty was shaken up after a dive in yesterday’s game.  If Haggerty ends up being okay, Caballero might end up back at Triple-A when Marco Gonzales returns from the paternity list later in the week.  In the meantime, Caballero’s ability to play shortstop, second base, and third base will help fill Haggerty’s utility role.

Not supposed to have extra rosin on his glove so he was doomed.  Back to the drawing board.  I was wondering why he used alcohol rather than water to wash it off between innings? Any scientists here? How does alcohol mix with rosin?

I know the umps are the focus also since most of these are coming from one group and one ump but maybe they are the only ones taking it seriously.

we fire Davey, bring in Yan to manage. Player-manager saves money.

Plus he'd be called the Yanager.

Sad. He had some good years with Arizona and a great year with Toronto. However, that season he led the AL in innings pitched and strikeouts. Was he overworked?

This should be in the sunshine squad thread. Helped us get a top draft pick. Well done Boomstick.
