Trevor Gott traded to the Mets.

From The Athletic:

Quote
The New York Mets have acquired pitchers Chris Flexen and Trevor Gott from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for lefty Zach Muckenhirn, league sources told The Athletic on Monday. Here’s what you need to know:

The Mets plan to designate Flexen for assignment, a league source confirmed. Flexen cannot be optioned to Triple A based on language in his contract, according to the source.

- New York will pay around $4 million of the $8 million Flexen is owed on his salary this season, per a league source.
The 29-year-old right-hander, who was designated for assignment by the Mariners last week, has a 7.71 ERA over 17 appearances (four starts) in 2023.

- Gott, 30, owns a 4.03 ERA in 29 innings of work this season out of Seattle’s bullpen.

- Muckenhirn was DFA’d Sunday night after logging three appearances for New York. He registered a 6.00 ERA across six innings.

Jimmy Cordero, former Nats minor leaguer who pitched for Washington in 2018, suspended for 76 games for domestic violence. He had been relieving for the Yankees.

Daniel Hudson suffers sprained MCL in third appearance after return from torn ACL. Will be out for a while, and maybe the rest of the season.

Quote
Wednesday night, for the first time in 392 days, Hudson recorded a major-league save, requiring a nail-biting 29 pitches to close out a 6-4 win over the Pirates.

The euphoria of the moment eroded as the adrenaline faded; Hudson, after just three appearances upon his return, suffered a sprained MCL in that right knee. He will be out for “quite some time,” manager Dave Roberts said Thursday, stopping short of all but ruling Hudson out for the year.

“I just can’t put into words how frustrating, how disappointing this is for him,” Roberts said.

Max pitched seven innings of one hit shutout ball.  But Trevor Gott failed him in relief.  Not the first time.

Who knows, might be a good clubhouse influence on Rendon

Is Rendon a bad clubhouse influence? Based on?  I think Rendon is a bad influence on the team by getting lots of money and not playing much. And not hitting when he does play.

Nats should have signed Murphy to play 1B in Rochester. Looks like he has knocked the rust off and hitting again. Best hitter I've seen up close since Don Mattingly and Keith Hernandez, and what if the 38 year old Murphy hits better than Dom Smith? And maybe Murph could give advice to hitters?

Well, I was talking about a former teammate who would have come back the hard way potentially being a good clubhouse influence on someone who has not exactly been raking in positive headlines, starting this season with the whole A’s fan incident

He also was tossed after complaining about borderline third strike call.  After he swung at one in the dirt right before that. Just having a brutal year.  He was always a free swinger but seems to be chasing everything.

Late Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Angels ended all uncertainty about their plans for what could be the final few months of their Shohei Ohtani era.

They traded planning for their future to cling to the present, dealing two of their top prospects to the Chicago White Sox for one of the top available starters, Lucas Giolito, and hard-throwing reliever Reynaldo Lopez.
