Gray should have hit him in the head.

Of course, Rendon should have signed with the Nats in 2019. He has been fouled up ever since.
Yep. Probably would have traded him to the Padres or Dodgers!!

You called me a nag, huh?

Yeah you did.  Yeah you did!

Apparently that works as a way to re-learn to hit.

Rendon placed on IL. Not a shock.

Rendon jinxed himself when he chose the Angels over the Nats. He should have stayed in DC.

I don't think anything was intended in bad faith, just an off the cuff remark (re: politics).  Good example of why we keep that stuff in the cesspool though :P

It was said, somewhere, that she was furious that Nats fans booed President Trump at Game 5, 20019 World Series.

Trump is still around in 20019??

Got it. I'll remove. Modify to Rendon's self-jinx by leaving Washington and Nats fan.

Rendon made comments about the Nats "culture" which made it pretty clear what he thought but he ultimately came out a winner as he gets to relax on the IL every year and get $300 million guaranteed.

Did they ever really make Rendon an offer?

Not really, and they were smart not to. The Angels giving a guy who openly said he DGAF about baseball $300 million guaranteed was hilariously stupid.

Ok. Yea. I don’t recall seeing anything about an offer. Of course they gave the $ to Stras which ended up even worse.

Yeah, obviously giving the money to Stras didn't really work out and we all could see that coming, but it was at least logical and he was a legit ace in 2019. He was really the first big contract we gave out that sucked.

i don't think so. The plan was always to transition to Kieboom.

I thought they offered Strasburg what Strasburg wanted, and offered whatever was left over to Rendon.

Per the below: Rendon and the Nats did discuss an extension and the Nats made an offer, but it didn't come close to the Arenado deal so Rendon turned it down. Rendon wanted something comparable and the Nats balked.

Here is the Post article by Barry Svrluga. The numbers were close to Arenado, but Rendon made it clear he wanted much more. He compared his situation to going car-shopping to one lot or to many car lots. Fool. Rendon could have stayed where he had done well. Instead, he went off, got hurt again and again, and has continued to throw temper tantrums. And, of course, the Nats would never have had to experiment with Kieboom at 3B.

Think of Rendon and Soto and Turner in 2020 and 2021. Signing Strasburg for $300 million became bad luck with the injuries, but a healthy and cooled-down Rendon would onluy have needed another starting pitcher to compete.

Fans seem to blame Bryce for leaving, but I don't. Rendon, on the other hand...

i don't think the post-season had any impact on his decision to leave. he was a hero and treated as such. he was never going to stay absent a blows the doors off offer. they were looking for a place to settle, raise the family, and turn off outside stressors when he wasn't playing. this area was as bad a fit for him and what he prioritized as it was a good one for Doo.

Stras, otoh, liked the area. if Stras was a Commander instead of a Nat, he might have found the attention too much. Werth, RZ, they also found it a good family place.
