helped the owner's cash flow but it wasn't pumped into the team, so it doesn't really say much about the players they acquired. The GM made just so few wrong steps.

The Nats are at the stage of trying to identifying the Mountcastle / Mullins / Hays / Santander before the big premium blue chips hit. Maybe Abrams is one of those guys, and you can hope perhaps Thomas is one as well. Jury is out for me on Ruiz.

Team has signed a 30 year lease at Camden Yards.
premature. It is a memorandum of understanding with further details to be worked out. terms not set yet. may require a short term extension of the current lease in order to finalize the terms. not legally binding.

some terms are announced:

Quote
As the Orioles note in their press release, the memorandum includes a 99-year agreement that gives the Orioles to invest private capital into developing the area around Camden Yards, including the warehouse and Camden Station. Barker adds that the Orioles figure to pay $94MM to the state over the length of the agreement.
...
the Orioles would no longer pay rent to use the ballpark, and in exchange would take over the costs of upkeep for the stadium, which are currently the responsibility of the state of Maryland.  [Baltimore Banner writer] Kostka adds that the sides still expect to have a lease signed before the current deal expires on December 31, though many of the details of the agreement are still being worked out, including oversight of the aforementioned development prospect, which will include both the Maryland Stadium Authority and the Orioles.

Former Oriole Ryan Minor has entered hospice care after being diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. He's famous for replacing Cal Ripken when Ripken decided to end the streak.

Only 49. :(

His first order of business should be to bury the damn hatchet with MASN and let the Nats sell to AOL Ted.

wasn't he reportedly interested in buying the Nats? Hopefully they didn't screw him in the process.

He’s going to run into the same problem Ted did. The Os can’t be valued anymore than the Nats can until MASN settles and he’s going to need a valuation to bring on minority owners and to raise capital

Good point. Maybe that finally gets Angelos to settle the MASN mess.

Last year’s stories had reportedly talked about his interest in them. If they move off of leech mode and pay the backlog as a result, that would be something (though I’m not holding my breath for things to be straightened out fittingly).

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/carlyle-rubenstein-talks-acquire-baltimore-185720551.html

“Rubenstein, 74, was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He has a net worth of $4.6 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. He also hosts a show on Bloomberg Television.

“Rubenstein told key backers of the Orioles that he would consider buying the team if it comes up for sale, Bloomberg News reported last year. He has previously eyed the Washington Nationals, another MLB team, and, unlike many of his peers across Wall Street, has yet to make a splashy bet on a sports team.“

Oh that David Rubenstein. Have seen his show on Bloomberg. He interviews other insanely rich people.  And they all pretend they are like us.

Why? Who in their right mind would want to be like us. Why not Batman?

There is some clarity in the MASN situation now that the compensation has been decided up to the 2021 season. That would make it currently up-to-date. Of course there is uncertainty going forward but it would seem every team is in that same boat except a few teams like the Dodgers, Yankee, Red Sox and maybe a couple of others.

I would think Ted Might not want to buy the Nats though if he can't put them on his network so there's that.

When did they settle compensation from 2017-2021?

I don’t think it’s settled.  I think MLB made its initial finding and it will drag on like the previous years.

I was shocked when I saw it in Janes article on Sunday. She say's the MLB appointed committee has decided on $60 million a year for those years. It somehow went under the radar.

Maybe but Janes article didn't say that and how don't see how they could go through that again since all those issues have been decided, including the committees right to decide.
