Brandon Marsh leads MLB is slugging and OPS. It’s early I suppose.

No use playing him while he’s hot

it was him or Outman. Would have been Mullins on the bench, but he plays an extra game and faces worse pitching

next week, most likely, unless Mullins is very hot.  Outfield is Tucker, who I'll only bench if he has a 5 game week, then a combo of Marsh, Outman, Mullins, and Verdugo.

New Era is not allowing the Braves to celebrate home runs with a giant oversized hat anymore since the hat was not manufactured by New Era.

Very bad optics here IMO. New Era would have been better off making an even bigger hat (with a giant New Era logo on it), given it to the Braves, and said "here use this instead" - New Era surely has the technology to make such a hat.

Is Seattle's trident made by New Era?

Castellanos trolling Bregman. And the Apple TV broadcast.

The Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals managers must be feeling heat right now. Those teams are playing well under expectations. Pedro Grifol of the White Sox should be safe since this is his first year. Oliver Marmol of the Cardinals is the youngest manager in MLB. I thought it was a huge mistake when he criticised O'Neill publicly for not hustling. That seemed too self-serving. I suspect he might not make the year.

The AL east is off to a bit of a crazy start. The Yankees are in last place, just one over .500 and the 20-9 Orioles are 3.5 games out of first.

the joke in Boston is everyone is upset they are winning because they all want to vent about how Henry only pays attention to the Penguins and Liverpool and because Chaim Bloom wants to run the team like Tampa Bay.

A scout says the Yankees are heading toward the bottom. Yanks are full of old players, like LaMahieu, or players like Stanton, who plays like he is old. Stanton can no longer run without pulling something. Further, they traded too many prospects last year, so the farm system is not as strong.

Last year seemed to encapsulate them since Boone came onboard. At the trade deadline, they drop a solid starting pitcher who came up with the organization and shown he could pitch both in the playoffs and in New York for an injured superfluous outfielder. Then, one of those old vets, LeMahieu, just disappears after the trade deadline with a recurring injury. Then, Boone seems to do what food has been doing in the postseason, and off they go. Yet he and Cashman are back.

For generations, we were told the best starting rotations provide large quantities of innings.

The Rays are testing this -- again.

Their starters have combined to throw 187 innings this year, the fewest in the AL.

Their starters also lead @MLB with a 2.94 ERA.

When you adopt the Opener philosophy, starters aren’t going to amass a lot of innings.

After all the money the Padres have spent on hitting, a quick look at their starting lineup today:

3 hitters hitting below .200

4 hitters hitting between .200 and .250

2 hitters hitting between .250 and .290
