Wow. Tampa's stadium lease is up in 2027 so they'll have to figure something out in the next two years I would think.

At this point, probably Nashville given the group of people trying to get major league ball out there. Personally, Tampa weather is a nice getaway in the early and late parts of the baseball season, and a nice retractable roof in Ybor City would be perfect. But the Rays aren't going to put out the money, and the taxpayers aren't going to put out the money, so, Nashville it will be.

I've been hearing a lot this year about a pitch called a sweeper. I didn't know what they were talking about until last night's ESPN game when one of the announcers said the sweeper is what people are calling the slider. What's up with that? I guess somebody said it one time and somebody else thought it was cool and started using it and so on. It's like a few years ago when somebody started saying "score the ball" in the NBA and knuckleheads started using it. Or when Ron Rivera coined the saying QB1. I hadn't heard that before now everybody wants to say QB1.

Just an off-day rant.

The explanation I heard was that the normal slider has some sideways break but also goes down. The sweeper is more sideways and bigger break. Like 10 inches. Splitting some hairs but not much different than differentiating between four seem fastballs and sinkers. They never used to do that. Or cutters.

Traditionally, sliders have more vertical break. A sweeper is just another term for a slutter, a mix between a slider and a cutter. Sometimes called a slurve
