Adon was a late scratch in Rochester. Speculation is that he’s coming up for a spot start after today’s long delay.

Per Zuck: Davey considering going with a six-man rotation when Kuhl returns from the DL. Irvin will get at least one more start.

as long as Shohei and Skenes are ok with 6man rotations, then we can practice it this year

Dumb.   Kuhl is a bum.  Kick him to the curb

2022 innings pitched:
- Gray: 148
- Gore: 70
- Williams: 89
- Irvin: 103
- Kuhl: 137

None of these guys are going to throw 200 innings this year, so they need to limit starts.

He hasn't pitched well, and maybe he could get some sort of extended medical leave because his wife is going through cancer treatment. I'd guess it is hard to do your job when your spouse is literally undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

The Nats can be supportive of Mrs. Kuhl in Rochester. In fact a lower stress environment may not be the worst thing for him.

I’m sure she would love to transfer her chemo treatments to a different city and medical team. Would be a a great PR move for the team!

We lived with Corbin for a few years.  I’m sure we can live through a few more Kuhl starts. The team is not making the playoffs. The only important thing is development of the young players and going to a six man rotation would seem to help with that.

Honestly, a 6 starter rotation and/or skipping Gore and Gray is probably a good idea. I really hope they dont push Gore past 120-130 innings this season, which ends his season before the end of August. Be nice to stretch that into September.

Also, I would expect it to get worse if Trevor Williams keeps pitching like he has. Pitching will go at a premium this deadline and I cant imagine Rizzo not cashing in on Williams' success

Espino has a 2.76 ERA in Rochester so at some time we will see him again.

Why would she transfer? She was diagnosed during the off season which would indicate she’s receiving treatment where their off season residence is located.

Yep. We have actually been pretty fortunate in terms of pitching injuries this season. At least so far.

Im also hoping Rutledge continues to perform and gets a spot start or two with the MLB club. Having never thrown more than 100 innings, I imagine he will also have an innings limit of around 130

It would be nice if he could pitch into mid September.

She’s having chemo in DC.

I’m sure a move would be good for her.

Doesn’t matter, he’s a 6 year vet so you cut him and move on. Keeping players on the major league roster because of their back story is nuts.

Would you tell him to his face it’s a back story?  Not clear if you want to send him to Rochester or DFA.  Either way the team is on the hook for his salary this year. It’s quite possible the medical issue has hurt his performance. He will get another chance.

Maybe use Kuhl as a long reliever, or pair him with Irvin.

You realize that many, many times - in fact, basically 100% of the time - spouses and families do not move when a guy is on the AAA/MLB borderline, right? She can easily stay in DC while her husband dicks around in Rochester. Keeping a guy on the MLB roster to get shelled every 5 days and hurt the rest of the team because of his family situation is kind of ridiculous.

Well yeah she probably would stay in DC if he went to Rochester.  Maybe Rizzo can drive her to chemo. Do you think mental health wise she would prefer to have her husband around? Who cares if the Nats win 67 games instead of 65.

Plus it would be every six days if a 6-man rotation.  Like I said before if we put up with Corbin from 2020-22 we can put up with Kuhl for some of this year.  If he continues to suck after a few more starts then they can make a decision. You guys are acting like we are in the playoff race and this is some major stumbling block. Or that he is blocking some prospect.

Wouldn't it be something if the silver lining to Cavalli's blowing out his arm, was the discovery of Jake Irvin, or another younger arm?  I can dream, can't I?

I mean, he would have gonna a call up at some point this year. Like I said, compared to the rest of baseball, we've had minimal pitching injuries

Thinking back, didn't the Lerners already freak over a player, or a player with a family illness? Years back. I can't remember the circumstances clearly...

I believe you’re thinking of Doug Harris.
