I joke about it, but its pretty laughable to think the Mets have a legit shot at the division. For one thing, Corbin and Williams are probably overachieving. Also, I dont know how sustainable it is to use our bullpen like we have.
And also, remember that Gore is probably on an innings limit of around 110-140 innings. He didnt pitch a whole lot in 2021. He didnt throw at all in 2020. And last year, he only threw less than 90 innings. He's gonna need to be cutoff before September. And there really isnt a replacement that wont be a huge drop off.
Its kind of a shame because if the Nats had been willing to spend and put a competitive team up, this is a different conversation.
