Bryce must praise Philadelphia fans. He plays there. And, yes, it was great that Phillies fans gave Trea a standing ovation. I just saw that Trea bought a billboard to thank those fans.
Several billboards I believe.

The fans can be insufferable there but once they love you it’s forever. They still have Dick Vermiel billboards and he has not coached there in 40 years.

2015 is easily his best season. Would have had another MVP in 2017 if MLB had suspended a game for rain like they should have. Still maintain that season had the best chance of all of them to win a WS. Harper has won an MVP in Philly too

I was curious so I opened up Fangraphs.

As a National, Harper has been a .279/.388/.512 (140 wRC+) hitter.
As a Phillie, he's hit .285/.393/.527 (141 wRC+)

Thats pretty consistent. What I do think we see with Harper is that as a National, he really wasn't that consistent season. Indeed, he doesn't post a season at or above his average wRC+ until 2015 (the monster year) and he doesn't post consecutive seasons like that his entire tenure. But in Philly, he managed to do that in in 2020 and 2021. Going by achieving average wRC+ or better, the Nats got two prime seasons of Harper. Philly has also gotten two. Injuries have played a part in that, but I think its pretty safe to assume that Phillies will get more of "prime" Harper than the Nationals did.

Fair enough, hopefully he stays healthy to keep playing as many games as possible in Philly.

At the end of the day it ended up both for the Nats and Harper. We won a World Series and Harper is happy in Philly.

Was good to get that field goal and avoid the shutout.

tl;dr:
- Max and Verlander don't really get along
- Verlander is a diva
- Verlander complained that the Mets analytics team was inferior to the Astros' one

Gotta give some credit to the Braves for the bold move of letting Freeman walk and getting Matt Olsen. Not many teams would have done that.

The Braves seem to be light years ahead of all other MLB teams in their decision making and ability to convince young talent to sign long term deals prior to them hitting free agency.

So this is unexpected.  W-L since the all-star game:
1. Phillies 17-12
2. Nationals 16-12
3. Braves 15-12

Genius for ESPN to schedule all these Mets games for Sunday night.  Makes it easier to laugh at them.

Mets season in a nutshell: Alonzo crushes a ball to left that curves just foul, then strikes out looking
