It doesn't seem like present day MLB players have popular nicknames. There are no Big Trains, Sultan of Swats, Hammerins, The Big Units, or Three Finger Browns.

Certainly no present day Nats deserve a nickname yet, although with Ruiz going to be around for the next decade maybe he should get one. According to a MLB article these are the top 10. I knew one of them and could of guessed one.

The Magician
Polar Bear
El Nino
Childish Bambino
La Pantera
Thor (fans probably know who this is)
La Tortuga
Sho Time (could guess this one)
Carita
Bringer of Rain

Nice. Only a temporary nick though.

Nobody knows who the majority of these top 10 are.

One of them is not Aaron Judge whose nickname is "all rise" It's an appropriate nick because of his name and what everybody does at the ballpark when he hits a home run but it doesn't sound as good as something like "the big hurt".

I recognized half: Alonso, Soto, Syndergaard, Ohtani and Donaldson.

The only other ones that jump to mind among current players are Francisco Lindor as Mr. Smile, Matt Adams as Big City and Nelson Cruz as Boomstick.

I nicknamed Jesús Luzardo "the Basilisk," AKA the Jesus Lizard, but that doesn't seem to have caught on.

Matt Adams as Big City is a good one and pretty well known. Nelson Cruz as Boomstick is a good one.

- Muddy Ruel

- Pinky Hargrave (brother of Bubbles Hargrave)

- Irish Meusel

La Pantera I think is one of the White Sox? Luis Robert?

not bad. La Pantera and El Mago are right, and the Magician = El Mago.
El Nino 1st guess was right.

La Tortuga is a lot less prominent than the other nicknames. Got the primary position correct, just blanked on who it was.
Sho Time so obvious I didn't bother.

Carita and Bringer of Rain beat me too. so I think I got 7.

I'm just glad we're past the era of just shortening people's names: A-Rod, I-Rod, CarGo, etc.

I'm surprised I'm the first person to post the words "Tony Plush" in this thread.
