Rumor mill still heavily pointing to Ben Johnson.  I'm excited for it.  Lots of praise going around for the guy.  I randomly looked up one of his pressers and he comes across well - he's not some cringe-inducing airhead like Jim Zorn was.

It'll be interesting to see what happens this weekend.  If the Lions pull off an upset and the offense performs well, his stock probably goes up even more, and then it might turn into a contest between the Seahawks and Washington.  I think the Seahawks win that one.  As much as the culture appears to be turning around for the better in Washington, everything the Seahawks have done over the last 15 years would seemingly make them the most desirable destination out of all of this offseason's vacancies.

Washington comes with a choice of Mays or Daniels. Seattle comes with Geno Smith

Johnson is staying Detroit!

I heard Schefter earlier on the radio say that despite the reporting, the Commanders hadn't yet made a decision and were still considering the Raven's DC.

Apparently had some outrageous demands, and called the Commanders with a refusal as they were flying to Detroit...
At least according to Grant and Danny.

Apparently Slowik is also staying put, down in Houston.

Mike MacDonald or bust.

If it's Dan Quinn, that'll kill any hope of a near-term return to respectability.  He seems like a total fraud.  The one Super Bowl appearance as a head coach is much clearer now, and it seems likely that the 2016 Falcons were carried by Kyle Shanahan.  Quinn's defensive units have largely been exposed every time they've made it to an important game (including and especially this year's 40-burger by the Packers on Dallas's home turf), save for the 2013 Seahawks, but even Rich Kotite could have succeeded with the Legion of Boom.

I think the big thing with Mike Patricia is he has to wear a red jacket. At the Lions, he wore blue or something, when he returned to the Pats, he wasn't wearing red, and he wore green I think with the Eagles. I think he'd do fine at the Commies if his shade of burgundy was closer to red.

Falcons could have worked had Belichek gotten the job.

Mike Mcdonald taking trading in crab cakes for dungeness crab as he heads to Seattle.

The remaining coaching options for the Commanders are getting thin. Vrabel? Quinn? BB? Bieniemy?

You never know how these things will turn out.  The Eagles last two hires Pederson and Sirianni were both after other guys had turned them down. And both made it to a Super Bowl.  Before that getting Chip Kelly was a big coup.

I'd prefer Vrabel of the remaining top candidates, but supposedly he doesn't want to give up personnel decisions to a GM, which would put him at odds with Peters.

Anthony Weaver, Dan Quinn, and Aaron Glenn are the guys that have been interviewed by the Commanders.

Bieniemy too IIRC.

Whoever it is, gotta get it done. Staffs still need to be assembled.  Given that all these other guys are DCs, you have to wonder if Bieniemy-as-OC might be part of the equation for a new DC-to-HC candidate.

Yep, those are the final four.  Not a very good look.

I guess I'd prefer Weaver over the others?  I'll take the somewhat unproven commodity over the known dunces (and Glenn who's also unproven but didn't preside over an especially impressive unit).

I'm guessing they got beaten to the punch on MacDonald, which is why they didn't announce a hiring today.  First real hiccup for the new regime.

See who he can get as an OC.  I am sure he has learned some things from his first time as head coach.

I'm guessing a reunion with his OC in Atlanta in 2015 & 16 is out of the question? :)
