Lee Tinsley, former Mariners, Red Sox and Phillies player and coach for several clubs, at age 53. I think I saw his first ML hit, which was against the Os in 1993.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Tinsley

Quote
Lee Tinsley, a speedy outfielder who hit .260 over 270 games for the Red Sox from 1994-96, died Thursday at age 53. Like Tim Wakefield and Troy O’Leary, among others, Tinsley was one of general manager Dan Duquette’s discount-bin finds that contributed to the 1995 Red Sox’ unexpected run to the AL East crown. Tinsley slashed .284/.359/.402 in 100 games that season while stealing 18 bases and playing a dependable center field.

Tinsley was a nice fellow who could give Batting Stance Guy a run for his money as a mimic of other hitters. His stay with the Sox was short, but he is remembered well.

Could you imagine how happy we'd be if we had an outfielder with that sort of line this year?

Chris Ford, 74.  Former NBA player, 3 time World Champ (as a player and assistant coach), former Celtics coach.  Original 3 point king, first player to hit a 3 pointer. I always thought he was a better coach than acknowledged. He coached the Bird-McHale-Parish combo in their decline years and still went 222-188 over 5 seasons starting in 1990.

Yes a very good coach. Known as a hot dog when he played at Villanova. Atlantic City kid. Also made the first three point shot in NBA history.

With Ford, I don't know if he didn't want to coach elsewhere. He wasn't even 50 when he stopped.

He also was head coach with the Bucks and Clippers after Boston. Looked it up and coached at Brandeis after that. And finally a year as Sixers assistant and interim coach. Left coaching 2004. While he still had his hair and sanity I guess.

I thought I remembered him as coaching elsewhere but I didn't see it mentioned much.

I wonder how  a guy with his deep outside shot would do in today's game.  I'd imagine he'd be more highly valued. HE retired before the 3 point contest started in the all star game.

Someone who played for Villanova at that time and then the Celtics is just a double whammy for me. But RIP. Sounds like he enjoyed his later years.

How cool would it have been if Django Reinhardt lived long enough to perform a cover of Van Halen's Unchained?

So many to choose from and he continued to write, record, and perform. Incredible talent and dedication. Sad that he's gone.

Hey. Neil and Stephen ain’t dead yet. Good tunes though.

I had forgotten until reading today that Wooden Ships was written by Crosby with Paul Kanye of Jefferson Airplane.  They did a good version of the song also.

David wrote this one with McGuinn and Clark when with the Byrds. Clark left the band right after and is not in this video. Have to love the hat. Many stations would not play it as a “drug” song.
