1st March, 50 years ago..

i just recently learned that Alan Parsons was the producer of the album and came up with a lot of the special effects such as the coins for Money and the alarm clocks for Time.

YouTube suggested this and it’s actually pretty damn good, though I am amused to note which of them took the line "me and my baby in a 69."

Saw them around that time at the old JFK stadium in Philly.  Good show.

Was this show. My friends were really into the J Geils Band. We left before the Frampton as we were too cool to like him.

Yeah that one really hurts. It’s not Skynyrd anymore without him.

I posted this in the Deaths of the Famous thread, but it belongs here, too.

That Smell of course was written by Ronny about Rossington's Quaalude and alcohol influenced car crash that he was lucky to walk away from.  The performance is amazing in retrospect.  Steve Gaines is on it, and he's just on a different level than the other guitarists.  Less rote. Basically, Rossington and Collins always played the same solos, written out, not improv, while you can see Gaines is much freer.  Also, the Honkettes in great voice, and Ronny being Ronny.

Artemus Pyle is still alive as he had replaced the original drummer already.

That was great, thanks for sharing.  Artemus Pyle is probably the only human being, outside of war zone, to be in a plane crash and be shot on the same day. After the crash he was the only survivor able to walk. He found his way to a nearby farm house and as he approached the front door, he was shot by the owner. The owner thought Pyle was an escaped convict and fired over his head, though Pyle took some buckshot to the shoulder.  Fortunately he survived both.

He rejoined Skynyrd for a brief time when they relaunched and started touring, but quit because he didn't want to again be surrounded by druggies. He still plays in a Skynyrd tribute band.

Rossington had a heart procedure last year and was pretty much off the road, he was replaced by a former Thin Lizzy guitarist Damon Johnson though Rossington would play when he felt up to it.

Another 50th Anniversary - the first album of TD's 'golden period', when they recorded four consecutive albums (Atem / Phaedra / Rubycon / Ricochet) which established them as the standard by which all others, in electronic music, would be measured.

Awesome. Early Elvis is one of my favs to play on the jukebox when there's too much sappy country playing

Feuerschwanz's cover of Manowar's "Warriors Of The World" is pretty cool. The German medieval rock band is joined for this version by another German band, Saltatio Mortis, and by Swiss vocalists Thomas Winkler and Melissa Bonny. Not a lot of rock songs out there featuring the electric hurdy-gurdy.

outstanding. In college hockey, the Harvard band used to play this with marching band instruments (horns, drums, etc...). It actually worked. Can't find a youtube of it.  Mid-80s.
