On grounds that a 3B does not need to field?
Guy came up a shortstop. What is this bullcrap that he cant field?

At the same points in their careers, Luis Garcia couldnt hit and was one of the worst infielders in baseball.

Didn’t have many chances and young guys are often nervous. Abrams had three errors in the opener this year. Also as others have said he could be 1B or LF if he can hit.  No more harm giving him a chance than paying Dom Smith more money to suck.

Garbage as always. The fantasy that Kieboom can field because he was a first round pick as a shortstop. Of course, Kieboom flopped at SS in 2019, then flopped as Rendon's replacement in 2020, then flopped again in 2021.

Kieboom tried to replace Trea Turner at SS in 2019. Could not field at SS. That's his "rookie nerves" chance. He was given 3B in 2020 and managed nothing. He was given 3B in 2021, and failed again, hitting .200 with the Nats and .235 with Rochester. He went for surgery during Spring Training, 2022. He missed Spring Training this season.

Kieboom has never won the 3B job with the Nats and against competition.  Maybe he hits over .300 in AAA over a couple months, but why give him the job?

So Kieboom hits over .300  in Triple A for a couple months, but he shouldnt get a job, yet Alu does the same and but you stand on the table for Alu?

How has Kieboom won the 3B job? Who did he outplay? He hit .207 in 62 games in 2021, with .237. He played himself out of the majors.

How has he lost it? No one has outplayed him

Huh?  Candalario has been better than Kieboom has ever been.

Candelario has an OPS+ of 82. So well below the league average. With some pretty good defense. It’s not like you would be benching in his prime Rendon. I’ve noted I’m in favor of giving Kieboom a couple of months in the minors. Then he can play some 1B, 3B, LF and DH.  Let’s see what he’s got.

Candy also is making his pitchers very comfortable with his fielding.  The internal 3B candidates should get 2-3 months in the minors. Let them perform a bit before the call up. The only thing is, you do want to do some evaluation in the majors this year, so even if you can't deal Candy, he may get forced out.

Dont really care. At this point, the only person who has earned their position is Robles. Come the end of May, if the Nats have someone raking in the minors and their counterpart isnt anywhere near an MLB level hitter, replace them

I'd argue Garcia, Ruiz, Meneses, and Abrams have earned their positions.

I'm fine with swapping out Candalario for Kieboom if Kieboom shows he can hit. So far, he hasn't.

Garcia and Abrams and Ruiz are all young guys you want to build around. Meneses is not hitting and is 30. At some point if he does not hit you have to move on from him. For now they have no good alternative. So leave him in and hope he can recapture late 2022.

Only guy that has earned his position is Lane.   Our corner infielders are the worst combo the game has ever seen

Meneses was lightning in a bottle for a month last year.  It was a great story, and we all hoped we found something.  It's just not working out.  He is what we thought he was.  Hell, give Garrett his AB's.  Granted, Garrett is no spring chicken either, but let's see what we have in him.  I'm fine with Keiboom getting a shot at 3rd eventually - this is the year to do it.

To be fair to Meneses, it was two months of dominance, not just one, and then he continued to rake in the WBC (SSS aside).

But yeah he's just been an empty average at best so far this season.

Kieboom was given 3B in 2020. He hit .202 with a .556 OPS. Josh Harrison also played some 3B that year. Kieboom was given 3B in 2021, and hit .207 again with .619 OPS, as Stalin Castro won the job. He had his surgery in March, 2022, but the Nats had brought in Maikel Franco, suggesting that the organization did not trust Kieboom at 3B.

The surgery was TJS. He was out the whole year.

We all know that. Just as we know that the Nats had signed Franco in December. Almost as if the organization did not trust Kieboom.

Kieboom has only 350 MLB at bats. So not even a full season. Certainly be performed poorly when he had the chance but no reason not to give him another chance given his pedigree and he has some power. Which the team lacks.
