TBH, it's good that we don't need him to be a quality regular anymore. For a stretch, really starting in 2018 or maybe earlier, we needed to hit big on every one of our top position prospects. I sort of think it started with Turner when Desi was allowed to walk, but definitely by 2018 and needing Soto as Bryce and Werth were out the door. 2019 counted on Robles. After that, Kieboom was supposed to replace Rendon, and there was no internal plan B. Now, there's Alu, who looks like something less than a cornerstone but more probably a utility guy and maybe a regular for a stretch, with Lipscomb and House on the way. There's some multiplicity at other positions, like OF and C. If we are thin anywhere, it would be up the middle, and there's still Garcia and Alu for that near the majors for 2d base. Makes the Made acquisition useful. Hitting on Abrams would be huge.
