Both of those dudes are in the Alcides Escobar category of players you really, really should hope never appear on your MLB roster. Going to an ostensible MLB game and seeing Nomar F'in Mazara out there would annoy the hell out of me if I'd actually paid for the ticket.

Isn't Nomar Mazara basically the un-Jake Alu. Always a prospect with a good ceiling who barely performed. (edit - big bonus baby out of the DR at 16, took a while to do anything in the low minors, rushed a bit to the majors at 21 with limited upper minors time, but big hit tool per per the prospect hounds).

4 seasons as more or less a regular with the Rangers, with 20 HRs 3 times, but not really special. .250-.270.

When you put it that way, he could find time on this roster.

Kevin Plawecki opts out of his minor league deal and is a free agent. Hit .256 /.351 / .342 in 94 PAs with the Red Wings.

The Plawecki I remember from the Mets could not hit much, but was a decent defensive catcher. I expected him to be promoted to backup catcher, in a switch with Riley Adams. Ah, well.

Ferrer, Baldonado, and Weems have all been respectable, but are arguably no better than what we currently have on the 26 man.

ferrer and weems are on the 40 man roster already, so if we were to put kuhl or ward in the rotation to replace irvin, then we could add one of those two to the bullpen to backfill
