Luis Cessa lit up in his Rochester debut: 2IP, 6R, 4ER, 4H, 2BB, 1K
Hill is back to hitting at AAA, 4-5, 2B, 2-3B tonight with 5 RBIs.
I saw that. Hard to explain except that Hill must have been too tight when hitting for the Nats. Maybe he starts 2024 as a backup OF for the Nats...
More likely is that he is able to hit washed up guys in Triple A. Espino equivalents. But unable to hit MLB pitching. His defense seems nothing special either. If he is a fourth OF next year team has major problems.
Baseball is filled with guys who hit in the minors but couldnt in the majors. Luis Garcia is well on his way
In his second season in the majors, this guy posted .266 / .313 / .427. A significant regression from his rookie campaign of .313 / .397 / .473Folks didn't write him off or argue that he was destined to be a perennial AAA player. That guy was Daniel Murphy. Garcia is 23, it's a bit early to write him off.
ROBLES just aint it. He doesn't provide anything and he has no real projectability. He hits the ball softly and is easily pitched to. Time to move on
FTFY.
Except Robles is a good defender and has speed. Oh and has been a productive player in the pastGarcia is mediocre at second. He doesnt run fast, nor is he particularly savy. His arm is basically a noodle. He doesnt hit for average and he doesnt hit for power. At no point in 1100+ plate appearances has Garcia been anything other than a below average MLB player.
Daniel Murphy first 1124 plate appearances: .292/.343/.441 - 112 wRC+Luis Garcia first 1122 plate appearances: .264/.293/.391 - 83 wRC+Murphy started his career being an above average major league hitter. His "significant regression" season he was still a 94 wRC+, which is better than Garcia's best season so far. Garcia just aint it. He doesn't provide anything and he has no real projectability. He hits the ball softly and is easily pitched to. Time to move on
i'm ok rolling garcia out there instead of a rando vet but people penciling him into future lineups is funny to me. guy mostly stinks.
Rochester RHP Cory Abbott got an early birthday present as the 28-y.o. (today) was named the International League’s Pitcher of the Week for Sept. 11-17. The 2017 2nd Rd. pick for the Cubs tossed five scoreless innings with one walk and six whiffs last Tuesday, which earned him his third AAA win. This was the first POTW award for Rochester this season.
