Jenkins might have the highest ceiling of all the bats projected to land in the top 5. He’s going to be a monster in his physical prime. A Jenkins selection increases the likelihood that the Nats have a top 3 OF in the majors at some point in the next four years with the upside that they’re the best in the sport fullstop. A Green/Jenkins/Woods outfield would look like the Monstars from Space Jam after they snatched the NBA star powers. Green would likely have to be functional at CF to make that a reality, but it’s still humorous to picture.

I’ll reiterate my position for posterity though, I’d prefer any of the bats slated to go top 5 over a pitcher, even one as ballyhooed and talented as Skenes given the structure of the lottery rules now. I’m all for removing negative variables with this selection, and injury risk is obviously one of the most significant variables in existence.
