I will say Philly.  Makes me sick to think about it.

I can make arguments against everyone of the teams listed except Philly.  Braves are a good fit, but I think he's too rich for them when they could sign Swanson for less.   Cards I don't think will pay.  Giants have Crawford. Only question with Philly is whether they want Bogaerts more.

Phillies or Giants. Im betting Giants. I think Dombrowski will convince Bogaerts to move to third base in a year or two

I think Trea is splashier and has the Harper connection. Perfect fit for Philly.

I'm sure he shall wake-up, one morning, realise the greatest mistake he made in his life, and demand to return to the Nationals.... ;)

He will be happy there.  Playing with Bryce.  Now they just have to get the Angels to eat some money in a Rendon deal.

Howie is a special assistant, I think.

As long as they don't win anything, good for him. A division opponent signing 29 year old who relies on speed to an 11 year deal is great. By the time the nats are competing again, Philie fans will be arguing over whether Harper or Turner is the worse contract

I get it, people are mad. I'm happy for him. Good opportunity to win. The Nats had an amazing 2019 and are now mired in the MASN debacle which will completely complicate a sale of the team. It's dark times for Nats fans right now, but just because the Nats franchise is a mess doesn't mean we can't be happy for former Nats.

The Phillies just went through a decade without a winning record.  That’s a long haul and may be what the Nats have in store. Never any guarantees other than a few teams in MLB. Just frustrating that new ownership may not be in place for a while.

The Phillies are an aging team paying a ton of money to guys on the wrong side of 30. They will be competitive for the next few years, but without much of a rotation, and with likely increasing injury issues, they have a short window.

Ages of guys at the start of the 2023 season:
- Realmuto: 32
- Hoskins: 30
- Turner: 29 (turns 30 in June)
- Castellanos: 33
- Schwarber: 30
- Harper: 31

definitely will score runs for at least the next 3 years, but they still have a rotation of Wheeler, Nola, Suarez, ??? and ???  They already lost Zach Eflin. Baily Falter, Cristopher Sanchez and Andrew Painter are likely to contend for at least one of those slots. Painter was dominant in the minors last year, but only threw 103 innings and only got as high as AA so he's probably a later season addition.

The starting rotation was the team strength in 2022. With Wheeler and Nola and Suarez back they are solid top of the rotation. They will add pitching until the guys in the minors are ready.  Everything I have seen and read about Painter scream top of the rotation guy.

Eovaldi is cheaper than Rodon.  Take a chance on him, and if he's healthy, that's a good enough front 3.  He and Suarez can even help in the pen in a 1 start series.

Nola is a free agent after next season and Wheeler the season following. They’ll be up against it soon enough.
