That was more like losing to a 17 seed. Those guys shouldn’t have been in the tournament and only got in because of this bogus rule that kept their conference champion out of the tournament.

I bet the VPI fans are pissed at Purdue.

FDU has two losses to D2 teams and another loss to Hartford (ranked 362 out of 363 teams by kenpom). UVA needs to send a thank you card because this is now the most ridiculous choke job in the history of college basketball

Smallest team in the country beat the tallest team. Just too quick.  Purdue coach refused to go small. Dumb.

Hartford is dropping out of division one and mailed it in this year.  I guess FDU got hot at the right time. Hope they can win one more.

I’d like to see Larranaga make a run with Miami.

UVA just flat got their arse kicked in that game. I’m not sure calling it a choke was really fair to UMBC.

I suppose this is a good night to be a UVA fan for a less-apparent reason: UVA has won the national championship the year after every time a #1 seed has lost to a #16 seed.

Not a play in. It’s a First Four.  This says they have 9 wins. I know Mt St Mary won a couple when they were in that conference and Robert Morris. Probably best to say first non First Four game if that’s true.

This says Iona advanced in 1980 but the win was later vacated.

i was front row behind MD's bench yesterday. pretty awesome experience

Too close, and now they get a #1.  Was hoping to see them get to the Sweet 16. Stranger things have happened, I guess.

heard this one last night - Purdue couldn't beat Fairleigh Dickinson, imagine if they had played mostly Dickinson.

i didn't see the game, but looking at the stat line and seeing some commentary, it was if Purdue saw Porzingas and decided to adopt his "i don't care if i tower over everyone,  i'm going to just shoot three-pointers" mentality for the entire team. Purdue shot 5/26 from the 3 point line despite towering over FDU.

It look like a profoundly un-athletic big man being hounded by a far more athletic team. Purdue had height, but no one told Painter basketball players can jump

Zack Eddey had one shot in the last 13:30. Just toss the ball high towards him.

They were trying. He couldn’t handle being fronted by a 6’2 guard. I would say he cost himself a chance of getting drafted, but B1G player who can’t hang with NBA talent screams Tommy Shepard

I didn’t see the game either but the big guy was their leading scorer and they shot nothing but threes the last seven minute. Definition of insanity.  Other guys need to drive and that would loosen things up.  Sounds like a coach who refuses to adjust.

Alabama is not unbeatable. But will be tough. That was about a 4 hour drive from Nashville?

With Miller and Sasser being hurt, it looks a lot less likely that we'll see Alabama vs Houston and more likely it will be Marquette vs UCLA.

Doesn’t UCLA have injuries also?  Plus they have Mick Cronin as coach. They might lose today.

San Diego State wins easily and looks like it has a decent path to the Final Four. Winner of this game between Duke and Tennessee also has a good chance. I hate Duke less with a new coach.  Lauren Shehadi siting.
