American getting pounded by Lafayette. Colgate is probably too tough to beat anyway. JMU goes a bit later in the Sun Belt semis.

JMU loses to North Alabama. Or was it South Alabama?

South Alabama and Louisiana in a good one in the Sun Belt. Close all the way and SA looked much of the way they pull off an upset. Buy the Rajin Cajuns prevailed 71-66.  SA just missed a three that would have tied it. Firman looks like it will win the Southern Conference.

The announcers noted Furman had not made the tourney since 1980. I thought when Inwas younger they were in it all the time. Looked up and they were in six times between 1971-1980. Just one win.

What a disappointing season for the Hokies after winning the ACC last season and having a good start this year. Back to the drawing board.

Oral Roberts is destroying ND State in the Summit final. Keep an eye on them in the NCAA. They look like a very good team that has the size and speed to compete with the Power five schools.

Jim Boeheim out at Syracuse after 47 years. Apparently he had no idea it was coming.

I think Syracuse won the first Big East title but did not get into the NCAA because a new conference did not get an automatic bid.  Maybe it was the Rafael Addison team?  One of my best friends from college was from the Syracuse area and was buddies with Danny Schayes in high school.

Had to look it up. Georgetown win the first year.  At Providence.  Of course Penn whipped both Syracuse and St John’s in 1979 which made them the real first Big East champ.

The early years were great. Big Monday was must see TV.

They gave him more than enough time to gracefully exit. The game had obviously passed him by years ago

looks like I was off one year. They won the BE tournament in 1980, the second year, with Rautins and Schayes, but were passed over for the NCAA.

Hokies should have lost in round one so they did not have to be embarrased as they were last night.  On the other hand the women should be a one or two seed.

George Mason loses by 30 in the A10. The other George lost yesterday.  Bad couple days for the local teams.
