Glad he's out of the National League. I don't want him to break the curse of the Senators by winning the world series but I'm glad we don't have to deal with him anymore.

Could end up being a Corbin situation.
More like Strasburg situation.

5 year deal for a 34-year old with a recent history of injuries just seems crazy.

Texas is nowhere near contending so it’s a strange signing. They are trying to become the Angels.

Disagree. They have a nice core of young players and prospects. They scored as many runs (or more) as three other playoff teams, and were within about thirty runs scored as their division winner. They needed pitching. They have some high profile prospects, but Martin and Gray were there only solid starters. Replacing Taylor Hearn with deGrom will be a significant improvement.

They still have the prosoect capital to make a big trade, such as for Pablo Lopez, Tyler Glasnow, Shane Bieber, or Brandon Woodruff.

But ... yeah .... 5 years, 185 million is a lot.

Baseball business is very weird right now.   The big spenders care about spending to win year after year, but there are other big spenders who will pay huge for stars just because they are stars.   The Dodgers are on a weird island where they are in a great place to live for a millionaire, a chance to win it all every year, and a ridiculous tv deal, and they're able to get players to stay on top dollar/short term deals because of that.   It's all kind of a mess. The stars end up out to pasture on these teams who want them to sell tickets but probably won't ever win.

The current CBA and the local TV mess are good for big star players and teams at the moment, but the Brockmire baseball dystopia is not so far away if they can't figure out some fan friendly moves soon.

Padres checking in on Turner

How does that work with Tatis. Machado is at third so that wouldn't work. I guess they would have to trade Cronenworth. What an infield that would be, Machado, Tatis, Turner.

Tatis wasnt coming back to SS. Kim is a much better defender and his bat is league average. So really its a matter of is he going over to second base or the outfield.

So if Tatis goes to second and Turner to short that leaves Cronenworth and Kim out. Great infield. Probably more likely Tatis goes to the outfield and Grisham out but who can play center? Probably best solution Tatis goes to first and Kim is out if Turner is signed.

I don't see Turner signing with the Padres but if he does they're as good as the Dodgers.

Grisham can play CF. Tatis in RF. Soto in LF. Turner at SS, Kim at 2B, Cronenworth to first

And yet, they still don't have enough pitching.

There was an article about the Orioles “checking in” on the four SSs. None of them are going to Baltimore either.

Wow. That's a lot of dough for Scherzer and Verlander. If it happens does that make them the favorite for the NL East?
