Mo Lester tweets that Bellinger and the Blue Jays are nearing a multi-year deal
Twitter let that one through?

:hysterical:

It's actually Mohammed Lester,  but he goes by Mo, probably not the best idea.

Too obvious - I suspect he does it to get noticed, and be remembered, just like we have now... ;)

Bryce Harper had Tommy John Surgery today. He's expected to be able to DH around mid-July next year and play right field by the end of the year.

A team that would trade Soto when they did and doesn’t have an ownership situation done should be linked to absolutely nothing

Jose Abreu closing in on a deal to go to the Astros on a 3-year deal for ~60 million per mlbtr. Seems like a heck of an overpay for a 36-year old

Especially since they don’t have to deal with a certain agent

"Team in need of a shortstop has the #1 shortstop available as their #1 target"

quality insight there

Passan says the Yankees offer to Judge is around 8 years / $37.5 million a year. Soto must salivating.

I wouldn't think that would do it. Trout makes $35.5 million, Rendon $35 million, Lindor $34.1 million.

Judge turns 31 next April. Weren’t the others a bit younger?

Trout was 29 when he started making that money but he'll get paid that until he's 38.

Rendon was 30 and will be paid through age 36.

Lindor was 28 but will make that money until he's 37.

So they're all pretty much going to get that pay through the same ages, the others will get more a year or two earlier. I just think with the pressure on the Yankees to resign him and the Giants looking to make a splash he's going to get more than $37.5.

More you think about it, the more the Scherzer contract with the Mets was a groundbreaker.  With >$40 million AAV, it's now going to be a baseline for much longer contracts.  I'll guess that he's aiming for Scherzer AAV over 8 years, which would be 8 years, $346.7 million.  The Yankees may be leaking that to fake like they are serious.  Perhaps they are trying to draw a counter offer.  Maybe the sides would compromise around 8 years, $320 million.

Rays sign Zach Eflin to 3 years and $40 million.  Wow. Good money for a guy with chronic knee issues that have cost him time each of the last two years. They usually know what they are doing though.

Wow, I wouldn't of thought he would get that kind of money. I think he was good in the playoffs though.

Maybe its Rays bias, but I feel like they are gonna get a lot out of him

It's also a team that has taken shorter stabs at guys like Wacha. Seems they value peak performance and can deal with missed time.

Although it may be optimistic for Strasburg, but maybe it shows that getting something close to "normal" Strasburg for 15-20 starts a year is pretty valuable, were he able to give us that much.

deGrom to Texas on a five year deal for $185 million with an option for a sixth. Total deal could be worth up to $222 million.

Seems like a massive risk.

Glad he's out of the National League. I don't want him to break the curse of the Senators by winning the world series but I'm glad we don't have to deal with him anymore.

Could end up being a Corbin situation.

Of course, now the Mets will go hard for Verlander or Rodon.
