But John Hamm says he’s going to the Cards. Flo approves.

Trea to Philly makes some sense.  Upgrade on Segura even if they commit to Stott at SS.  Also buddies with Harper.  I think ATL makes maybe more sense.

They would move Stott to 2B. I think they end up with one of the top SSs whomever it will be.

Buddies with Harper?!? IMPOSSIBLE.

I have it on WNFF authority that Harper is a team cancer.

Can they handle another blockbuster contract? He's going to be paid a mint isn't he??

They can. I still think they need more arms. Also, Castellanos needs to be way better. I thought that deal was bad from the beginning.

Phillies are about $50 million under the luxury tax line and about $70 million under the second level. They exceeded by a few million in 2022.

I think the bigger question with the Phils is it worth the money when they have other needs. Particularly with Ranger Suarez as your #3 and the shift going away

That's a good point about the shift going away next year. I would guess the GM's when evaluating the free agents will have to figure out how that's going to affect certain players. I would think some players should have higher batting averages and some pitchers might not be as efficient.

Cubs release Jason Heyward, he's due $22 million next year.

I think we just found our new corner outfielder.

Tyler Anderson is off the table.  3 years, $39 Million with the Angels.  Rejected the Dodgers QO, doubling his total guarantee rather than taking more now.

Anthony "Other" Rizzo signs with the NYY for 2 years, $40 million. It's structured as $17 million for each of the first two years, with $17 million for year three or a $6 million buyout.

Anderson is 32 year old journeyman, slapping a QO on him seems such a craphead move.

His career stats are decent 5th starter.  His 2022 season was outstanding. The Dodgers seem to turn mediocre guys into top players. Such as Max Muncy and Justin Turner. In any event they don’t have to pay the guy. For the Angels better than most of what they have now.

It was a trade for pitchers Erik Swanson and Adam Macko.
