It's hard to see the Angels improving much next season. If He's not dealt this off-season, it will be fascinating to see what he goes for mid-season next year since he'll be in his walk year.

Ohtani available?

If he were to sign here, we should plant cherry trees around the Tidal Basin and at Nats Park in his honor.  Or at least tell him that's what we did.

Oh, heck, offer to take Rendon's contract off their hands if the send us Ohtani cheaper.  Just got to convince Tony and the family to come back, or else convince him to let his wife to go the Giselle route.  He'll hit

The problem is Ohtani is talking about wanting to be someplace where they win. I'm thinking DC won't be high on his wish list.

Jim Leyland un-retiring? And Tony LaRussa?

Word is the dodgers will be after judge and betts is “open” to move back to 2B.

They could easily do this by letting Turner walk and letting Liz man short.  A top 3 of betts, freeman, judge would be ridiculous.

They’d probably also be one of the most likely spots to land ohtani if he is traded.  Something like Cartaya, Miller, Busch, Pepiot as the base.  freak, it’s also the dodgers so why not full zdk it and add trout to the deal along with Vargas, stone, and then some upside pieces to the deal.

Gives the angels 6 too 100 prospects in the deal while leaving the dodgers with 1 (pages)
Dodgers roll with:

2B Betts
DH Ohtani
RF Judge
1B Freeman
CF Trout
C. Smith
SS Lux
LF Taylor

As their top 7 hitters.

Would be the best lineup ever

I love Betts in the outfield but one of those "what ifs" is what if he had stayed at second.  He was moved off second mostly because Pedroia was still healthy, only 30, and terrific defensively while the Sox had a massive hole in the OF.  Betts was not defensively-deficient coming up, but it's been a long time.  Weaker defensive second basemen will be exposed some with the new shift rules, so you wonder a bit how that cuts for the Dodgers.  Lux of course is fine, but I'm not sure an older Muncy could play there.

Ohtani. Judge. And Trout. And Roberts would still lose in the playoffs.

Its off topoc, but at this point, how much of Roberts' struggles are due to the front office dictating things? Particularly this year, they seemed awfully quick to pull starting pitchers

We saw how Roberts managed game 5 in 2019. Realistically we shouldn’t have won that game.

Can’t say I know anything about that. Any articles on that?

Agree, I hate the NYY but they're not letting him walk for lack of the highest offer. If he wants out, I'm not sure he wouldn't rather play in SF, from what I've read, than in SoCal.

Mets have some of their own players on expiring contracts. Off hand: DeGrom, Diaz, Walker, another starting pitcher, and Brandon Nimmo.

They already have the highest 2023 payroll. If they want to keep deGrom, Diaz and Nimmo their payroll is going to go through the roof.

Uncle Stevie wont care. He's gonna use payroll to keep the team compeitive while the farm system reboots ans grows.
