Matt Barnes plus $5 million traded to the Marlins for Richard Bleier.  Sox needed a lefty in the bullpen.

The Caribbean Series games are on ESPN+. Not sure if any current Nats are on one of Feb teams? I believe Wilson Ramos is on the Venezuela squad.

Edit. Checked and the Buffalo os playing. The Shark is playing for Curaçao. He’s no kid anymore.

8 teams in this year’s series. I believe that is the most ever. Cuba is back in it. And next year it will be in Miami!!

Bernadina 2 for 3 so far with a run scored and an RBI. Looked it up and he will be 39 this summer.

Deja Voux, Chocolate Moose, ...

Skeet surfing got a mention in a Gammons column.  Gammons plays some guitar and has appeared with Theo Epstein at Hot Stove / Cool Music for the Foundation to be Named Later, Theo's charity.  Big off-season event in Boston, or at least it used to be.  Bronson Arroyo has played there.

Apparently Joe West is trying to clean up his wiki page now that he’s retired. I’m surprised he hasn’t tried to delete the section about his musical career

It's 6 years, AAV of $18 million.  They probably need a couple good years and an average year to make it cheap.

it replaces his current deal, so 5 additional years beyond 2023 for $90 million. Still seems crazy, but the going rate for someone like him is in the mid-20's, so it's almost like deferred money in the out years.

Manny Machado says he's opting out of his contract after this year. With a new owner hopefully coming in at some point, could he be the Jason Werth of this version of run to respectability. If he is could Juan Soto follow the following year. Of course the chances are slim and none, but you never know what a new owner might do. If small market San Diego can do it so should a Washington franchise be able to.

The other thing is what was Scott Boras thinking when he negotiated Bryce Harpers contract? Harper is going to make 25 million a year with no opt out while everybody else passes him by in average salary per year.
