Didn’t see a thread yet.

Also did not see any of the game. Defense or goaltending problem?

Went to the game last night.  Had some nice seats behind the goal where Montreal shot twice.  Luckily the Caps scored all their goals in period 2 so we saw up close.  The ticket prices (Ticketmaster resale) were not bad other than their fees.  More than half then price of one of the tickets.  And the concessions....Good game though.  Montreal did not look that bad although I believe they are supposed to be a bottom-feeder.

The new arena security system at the Gallery Place entrance (where you go through the cinema lobby) is a vast improvement because you no longer need to empty your pockets and my wife didn’t have to have her small handbag searched. I noted the entrance across from Clyde's, which is where we’ve usually entered, still has the old system.

Elsyian Space Dust is now available from some of the beer stands in 19.2-ounce cans. (Where is OldChelsea to comment?)

We went in G street side and didn’t have to empty pockets either. They did appear to be checking some bags though.

Not sure I’ve ever seen that many empty seats for a caps game.

Must not have followed the team much between '04-'07.

Jan 2008 I remember a Caps/Oilers game that went to OT/SO where Matt Bradley won in like the 12th round - 90% empty upper bowl and totally empty 200-level Pollin club seats.  A year later and it was the hottest ticket in town.

As much as everyone grumbles when a game is on ESPN, I was really glad Tuesday night's game was on there so I could see Ovie score #800—I was out of town on business and would not have been able to see it had it not been on national TV.

You should be able to watch out of town if you have NBC Sports Washington.

Missed these last few games but watching tonight.  of course he has not scored.

Wasn’t practical to watch on my iPad at the hotel, especially with my wife with me wanting to watch as well.

I note NBC Sports Washington's graphics department is as on the ball as ever. At the end of the game tonight, the screen said "Flyers win."

I was supposed to be on a flight so I gave away these tickets.  Flight was cancelled so win/win, family zoom between 801 and 802.  Ovie has someone in his sights.  He'll catch 99.

he didn't want to score that goal

I think he had some thought of not wanting to get it on an empty net, but at the same time, there was the thought of wanting him to get it at home (the next game is Tuesday at Madison Square Garden, and how do you ensure he doesn’t get one there?).

I find it hard to object to empty-net goals. Gretzky had his famous 50 goals in 39 games and the 50th goal was an empty-netter. Nobody argues that it cheapens the record. Empty-net goals just mean your team is playing well enough to win games such that the other team has to pull the goalie to try to catch up.

Fun night to be at Verizon Center.

Still enjoy the annual midseason hot streak, aka the mirage to give everyone false hope again.
