Can’t argue with that. Would help Gray also. Sign a veteran who can pitch lots of innings.
I think that's the obvious move. Start the year planning around Corbin, Cavalli, Gore, Gray, Innings Eater as doing the bulk of the innings, and Stras pitching as #6 initially once he is ready and we get into the flow of 12-13+ games without an off day.
Then comes a series of if/thens:
1) If Stras somehow manages to stay healthy, then he gets a regular turn.
2) If Stras breaks down or any of the other guys can't be relied on, then have Espino and Abbott (probably, maybe Fedde if he isn't cut) as your long guys capable of spot starting.
3) If Corbin shows he's still a 6+ ERA guy, then consider yanking him from the rotation and see if you can make him into Ian Kennedy.
4) If Corbin or Innings Eater turn out to be brilliant, then explore trades (Corbin we'd still need to eat $10-12 million with the balloon payment his last season).
Looking at the schedule, they have a stretch of daily games from 4/1 - 12. I don't think you need a 6th starter that early in the year as guys aren't tired and you are building them up. If you do, then Espino / Abbott might be able to cover. Next stretch of multiple days in a row is 4/25 - 5/10, so you could give Stras a May target to pitch. 5/23 - 6/4 is another heavy stretch.
