I had forgotten that Seattle has a baseball team.

This is unintentionally the most New York thing I think you've ever said on here.  You're not entirely wrong as to the rest of the world's view of the Mariners, but it does fit nicely into the view that the edge of the known universe is about ten miles west of the Hudson.

The stadium graphic in Atlanta had "Play Ball!" in English and Cherokee. Has anyone noticed that there before?

And everyone knows that LA is 15 miles west of the Hudson

"Trail of Tears Field"

That would really be the stadium in Chattanooga.  The first departures on the Trail of Tears left from what was then the chief's property, within sight and a 5 minute walk of the present-day stadium.

Actually, it is based on how often my hometown team has played Seattle.

Well, that's a pretty dramatic way to end the game.

Lefties hit .167/.245/.344 against Sewald. There was no reason to go to Ray

Scott Servais must have fallen on his head before that game.  Terrible.

Dodgers winning this game was a slam dunk.  They just killed Clevinger this season when he faced them.

I don't know anything about the Mariners because I live in the eastern time zone and whatever it is the Mariners do, they generally do it when I am asleep.

Is the fella the Mariners pulled for the crime of giving up 2 singles with a 2-run lead their regular closer? Was there some recent history of meltdowns that caused them to pull him for a starter? Is the Mariners manager a Joe Maddon-like figure who likes unorthodox moves?

I don't know much, either. Seward was the regular closer, but he only had 20 of the team's 40 saves, so not as "regular" as a dominant closer. I don't know if there's an injury history or if the manager just mixes things up. Ray is a starter.

The Mariners/Blue Jays series was kind of a sick comedy of coaches on hallucinogens

We know it, but pretty quietly Trea Turner has a case for being one of the top 5 players in baseball.  2nd in fWAR the past 3 years, 7th the past 5.  Plays the most difficult defensive position better than Bogaerts, hits better than Swanson.  I'll be curious as to whether he ends up getting paid more than both.

And those slides. They were showing some of his slides last night. Like he is on ice.

Did anyone realize that old hand Clayton Kershaw is 2 years younger than Yu Darvish? Tonight might be the Padres night.

I think he’s the one we’re gonna most regret losing, when all is said and done.

and he wasn't a Boras client, so anything but an extreme low ball would have gotten the deal done.
