I think the training techniques now max out what a body is capable of, and that the reward / risk of using drugs probably ends up discouraging most of the high end talent. Judge also deserves credit for dropping his K% from 30+% his first few years to 25% the past two. I never thought he'd be a .300 hitter because of the swing and miss. He's also been able to play full seasons the past couple of years, which helps on a counting stat like HRs (I say that knowing that also helped McGwire, who did it artificially).
