Team GB doing their utmost to make the Nationals look competent...I think the occasion is getting to them - they're just trying too hard. And that HR celebration....  :hysterical:

Best moment was in the bottom of the 4th, with the score already 16 - 8 - Freddie Freeman looking completely bemused, clearly thinking 'what on earth's going on here?...' ;)

Dos dingers.

Can you imagine if this guy is for real?  That would start to mess up a ton of projections about timelines for this team.  6 years of team control, he could still be quality in his age 32 season in 2025 when some of the mashers in the minors start to show up.

After all of the selloff trades I've been thinking a lot (and very occasionally posting) about expected prospect outcomes. The fact of the matter is, short of being a team like the Dodgers, teams need to get "lucky" with their prospects and players like Meneses in order for rebuilds to be successful.

At the very least it looks like he could fill Ryan Zimmerman's role as the one above average player on an otherwise very mediocre team.

Juan Soto batting leadoff for the DR, he's 1-1 with a walk and two runs scored.

The Dodgers have found gems over the years from other teams scrap heaps. Justin Turner. Chris Taylor.  Max Muncy. The Phillies teams of the late 2000s had Jayson Werth and Shake Victorino.  This could be one of Rizzo’s best moves.

Soto throws out a runner at home. Guy went through the stop sign down by 5 runs.  Unbelievable.

Japan and Australia moved on from Pool A.  Anything can happen but Japan seems a sure bet to beat Italy.  Australia and Cuba will probably be more interesting.

We had this and were a 95+ loss team. The pitching has to develop.

For sure on the pitching.  But Meneses played in only 56 games. Will help to have him for a full season.
