Phoenix and Dallas games should be interesting. Meanwhile the Lakers big move appears to be getting DeAngelo Russell. LOL.

We were talking about 2d round picks who have had impactful careers. Jae Crowder is another.

I like the decisiveness of the Nets moves.  They were going to have a hard time getting out of the East and to the Finals, and that's not good enough for Tsai.

Reporting last night was that the Nets were looking to flip crowder.

Cs are looking for a big man.  Galinari and Pritchard plus picks would work, I think.

I wonder if Steve Nash will ever get another job. Taking over that high maintenance group with no experience was a recipe for disaster. They still have some valuable pieces like Bridges. But not ready to compete. Burn it all down. Oh never mind, Ben will pick up the scoring load!

Crowder to Milwaukee.
Boston gets its big at a lower cost: Mike Muscala for Justin Jackson and 2 #2s.

https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2023/02/09/celtics-thunder-trade-justin-jackson-mike-muscala/?p1=hp_featurestack

Jackson is almost completely out of the deep rotation, so it doesn't disrupt the deeper backups like Kornet, Griffin, and Pritchard.  Keeps Galinari at a reasonable cost for next season.

By the way, nice showing by their depth last night, beating Philly without Smart, Time Lord Williams, Horford and with Brown going down in the 1st half. Tatum ended up their 6th leading scorer.

Utah has 15 first round picks over the next 6 years. Gotta be another Stockton and Malone out there somewhere.

Wall was traded back to Houston. Assume they will buy him out?

Patrick Beverly to Orlando (where he is not expected to report). Lakers are now going to be looking to LeBron to fill the veteran leadership role, I guess.

Michael Jordan donated $10 million to Make-a-Wish Foundation for his 60th birthday.

I'm not sure what is bigger news. The largest ever since donation to MAW, or that Jordan is now 60.

Dallas blows a 27 point lead and loses to the Lakers at home. Teams with a 27 point lead are now 138-1 this season.

Kyrie thinks no one really knows what blowing a 27 point lead looks like, so he's not sure it really happened.

1 win separates the Mavericks at 6 from the Timberwolves at 9. I really want to see Kyrie drop them to the playin. With the Pelicans free falling, I doubt they can fall out entirely, but the play in would be hilarious

IF you had Ja Morant on your bingo card of NBAers accused of hitting folks, you are a winner.  Extra if you had this stuff going back to last summer without coming to light.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/03/01/ja-morant-punch-teen-laser/

After an incident at a mall parking lot when Morant threatened a security guard
Quote
Four days later, Morant repeatedly punched a teenage boy in the head during a pickup basketball game at Morant’s house, the boy told police. Morant and his friend struck the 17-year-old so hard they knocked him to the ground and left him with a “large knot” on the side of his head, according to a police report narrative written by deputies who said they observed the boy’s injuries.

The teenager told detectives from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office that, after the fight, Morant went into his house and re-emerged with a gun visible in the waistband of his pants and his hand on the weapon, according to police interviews obtained by The Post, which have not previously been reported.

In an interview with police, Morant said he acted in self-defense.
...
Neither incident was made public at the time. Morant, 23, began this season strong, starting in the recent All-Star Game and leading the Grizzlies to the second-best record in the Western Conference. But he was drawn into public controversy in recent weeks when the NBA investigated an allegation that someone in Morant’s vehicle pointed the laser sight of a gun toward members of the Indiana Pacers organization.

This one has been known for awhile. From initial reports, it sounds like self defense

the Post article is pretty balanced about the incident, giving both sides. Sounded like most of the witnesses were uncooperative. Mentions the teenager's mom as being a repeat litigant seeking cash for a number of things. That said, they point out a bit of a pattern with Morant's friends and family, including the mall incident, his friend Pack's confrontations, and the report about the Pacers bus.

His family got in a big confrontation with Shannon Sharpe at one game. Seems his friends and family are an issue.
