It's pretty depressing to play the Mets and see that their #8 hitter would hit cleanup on the Nats.

V-J day

I think it was mid-August. The US dropped the Bombs in early July. My dad was in San Diego and was released from the Navy ("first in, first out") and was back in DC in time to see the last games of the season. Nats lost it on the famous game when an outfielder forgot his sunglasses and lost a fly-ball in the sun.

Some countries have V-J Day on August 14 (August 15 on the other side of the International Date Line), the day the Emperor announced the surrender. For the US, VJ Day is September 2, the day of the official surrender on the USS Missouri.

Why the gold ribbon on the left chest of the Nats' jerseys?

Keith & Ron were just talking about Gray and homers. "Relies too much on his slider and not enough on his fast ball. The fastball is good enough to play. The slider is flat."

Gray is averaging two homers per none innings. Ouch.

Not often you see a 2B come within a couple inches of catching a triple.

Keith and Ron are idiots. His fastball is no where near good enough. Opponents are slugging .705 against it

WTF, lol.  They were about to have a chance to strand a leadoff triple and instead they try to backpick a dude on strike 3 at an uncovered base (and where he'd have been safe even if it had been covered)?

the hostilities stopped mid August but the treaty was signed 9/2 in Tokyo Bay. Dad worked at Oak Ridge. His brother was going to operate a Higgins boat in Olympic/ Coronet (invasion of kyushu and honshu), so we always thought dad did my uncle a favor

Followed by some bad running - should have scored on that ball to LF.

Mets remind me of all the Nats teams that were very talented, but never seemed to be fundamentally sound

Hey, Cruz could have just hit the ball Ruiz did and been out by 40 feet on a 6-4-3.  It would have been faster.

They should make Vargas the infield coach.  I'm only half-kidding.  Dude's so fundamentally sound out there.
