Vargas is now 13-21 lifetime against the Mets.  Mets announcers bemused at this; not acting like Brewers announcers, who would act like this was a personal attack on them.

Sendley would have been windmilling Vogelbach on that one like there was no tomorrow.

Also gotta love that A-plus outfielding from Thomas, backing off to let it drop and then letting it get past him into the corner anyway.

Some more interesting interpretations of fundamental baseball there with that third out at third.

Well, Voggy is the definition of a lumbering runner. I suppose they expected the throw home

Why the gold ribbon on the left chest of the Nats' jerseys?

Greg Abbott could have scored on that, though.

I love the check on whether to challenge the pick off.  "He's out." Easy to lip read.

Fine, Mark Lerner would have scored on that.  He's in the DC Sports Hall of Fame, you know.

For those of you bored like me, the MiLB.tv free game of the day is a home game for the gloriously named Amarillo Sod Poodles, where one can watch hype-machine prospect Jordan Lawlar play himself off SS one booted grounder at a time.  But who builds a brand new stadium with the bullpens in foul territory?

Ah, when the crap hits the fan, bring in Cishek.  He'll make sure the fan's on high.

Why is Cishek still on the team?

Gray averages 2.3 home runs per 9, say Keith & Ron. That's about the way he pitched last season. Does he need a few months in AAA, rather than a guaranteed starting job?

He needs to be shut down.

He needs to go to Driveline and fix his fastball.
He needs to get in a weight room and add velo to his fastball
He needs to develop his changeup

Eventually someone is going to run the numbers and realize crappy single-inning relievers who pitch 60 innings a year aren't worth roster spots.

Unrelatedly, is "Steve Cishek" the sidearm-throwing alter ego of Casey Janssen?  Like, is this some sort of washed-up relief pitcher drag show?

Casey Janssen sounds like a hybrid TV news anchor.
