Worry about that year of control after the team knows if he is worth it. No. That's a terrible idea. Why would we trade a year on the back end for 2-3 weeks in a lost season?

Wouldn't lose a year on the back end, would just mean he's arb eligible next year instead of '27. Would still be under control through '29.

Either way, I'm not convinced he's going to be that good. He's been so hyped for years that his name exceeds the likely results.

It's not a super 2 issue. It's losing a year of control. We don't need a 5th starter until 7/22, so if he is called up for that start, then he doesn't reach 3 years service this year so we have 4 years of control. At this point, nothing is keeping him down except health and judgment about his ability

Overall, not great yesterday, but did well enough most innings. Gave up two runs in the first. Then settled own to smother the Iron Pigs for a few innings, but gave up another two runs in the 6th. Maybe a slip in the first and tiring in the 6th?

Cavalli coming up to pitch Wednesday per Paulson. Will leave this open until we see if he sticks in the rotation or not. Crazy that he last pitched for us in 2022.

not under the illusion that that arm and pitcher exist anymore, but he looked so good back then. As did Henry.
