The intentional balk is now a thing

Pitchers are now routinely balking with a runner on 2nd - apparently to prevent the runner from being able to steal signs. The video of Dylan Cease doing this from last night is great because he doesn't get the balk call at first and has to sell it to the ump.

Giving the purveyor of the piece of metal his due, given how his actions or lack thereof on assigning discipline previously on clear transgressions may have contributed to the emergence of this ridiculous strategy

didn't the MLB agree to implement an electronic signaling system to between pitcher and catcher? I've seen a few games in which the catcher had an earpiece in their helmet.

I thought more than half the pitchers were using it.
