Looking forward to seeing Joey be a regular for a full season next year. It seems he's going to see a steady diet of breaking balls. I think the word is out no fastballs to Joey.

I think I might have seen him strike out the Whammer once at a train stop, but it was a long time ago.

Them’s the vibes.

Lock him up.
If he plays full time the next 6 seasons, he will be 36 years, almost 11 months old at the start of his first free agent season. Vargas, OTOH, will be a super 2 next year.

How many more Joey's might there be languishing in our system? Clearly, the brain trust underrated him and Yadiel.

This is Joey's first season in the Nats' organization. He spent year after year hitting well in the Braves' minors, then a year with Fillies AAA and a year at Boston's AAA team:

Lots of time in the Mexican League. And also a short stint in Japan that was cut short by….we won’t talk about that.

I hate to say it, but I think this is absolutely wrong.  This may turn out to be a spectacular find for the brain trust.  More or less, this guy got buried behind Freddy Freeman and Rhys Hoskins, went abroad in late prospect years, then came back to be buried behind Dalbec/Schwarber with Triston Casas breathing down his neck.  Too old to be a hot prospect, so they took a shot at him to round out our non-competitive high level minors, and he clicked big time.

Yeah.  If org guys rake - like, really rake - and have a viable position besides DH, they do get a shot.  If the talent is there, they'll get a shot.

This is bunk. Joey is Mr. August. I hope he is Mr. September, too. In Joey's first game, Keith Hernandez took a liking to him ("Joes Meneses, the Mets' Nemesis") although the Mets won that game. Can't wait to hear what Keith says tonight. Maybe with a little NY push other baseball writers will learn?
