He's a fat guy who can hit and not much else.

But this is baseball, so if you can hit, they'll find you a place.  Just ask Josh Bell.

Luke Voit is not fat
broad shoulders and muscular, not fat. He's a case of how the old school  would say less muscle might make you more of a baseball player.

Reminds me of Jason Giambi.

Giambi carried more weight.  So does Schwarber.  Dante Bichette?

Luke Voit is not fat

Everyone's perception of "fat" tends to vary. Compared to Vogelbach or Mike Ford, he looks anorexic. Vogelbach is built like a block of cheese that's starting to melt. He can actually go from first to third or second to home without embarrassing himself, though. Not sure how he can do it but he does.

Professional hitter who could flirt with 2 WAR as an everyday player next season. You aren't making a playoff push with him hitting #3, but a real solid hitter.

Going from Hosmer to Voit was a real good swing for the Nationals in that trade. Voit is a better player. He'll probably cost more in arbitration than Hosmer would have with Padres covering salary, but he is still cheap and is a guy who would be easy to flip next season if he is playing well and the team around him is headed to 100 losses.

I imagine he'll quickly become a fan favorite for lack of other options.

Can easily see this guy hitting to a 125 OPS+ and getting dealt with a reliever for a team's #8 prospect next year, making the Soto trade even better.

He hit a lot of HRs in a relatively short time with the NYY. Then, he got hurt.

They could just superimpose the Max eye thing over the head, but I saw where they already sold that off

If Mark Lerner wanted to be true to the brand he would replace soto with a cryptocurrency.

Maybe they can merge Terra with terra chips, then take them and gamble in the MGM pit of despair and lounge adjacent to the ballpark?

I remember Voit as a Yankee. He was good enough.
