The announcers were saying it looked like Scherzer was hurting last night but trying to pitch through it. It didn't work.

He may just be getting old and cannot hold up for a full season. Even a short one.  I mean last year he missed a playoff start with a dead arm. Is that an injury or just age? I suppose it’s semantics.

Oh boy Scherzer’s four seamer is flat tonight and has alarmingly less backspin, there’s 150 RPM less backspin on his fastball from his regular season average. The fastball carry and life is not there. He is not right

At the end of the day Soto did what the Padres brought him there for.

I would have never bet on a Harper vs Soto NLCS at any point of the season until it happened!

With a booster seat and someone to tell him what to say, he might have a shot.  My impression of Eaton is that he's somewhere between Mike Morse and a piece of sandstone on the intellectual scale.

Tell us how you really feel...

Still, that's mighty high praise for sandstone

Via TalkNats, the Padres denied Soto's request to play in the Dominican winter league that he had played in when he was a Nat.

I'm surprised that he didn't just play anyway. He's not under contract right now, just team control

So it's Soto-Grisham-Tatis across the outfield.  Grisham better stay hydrated.

Not much house for a million bucks.
more bathrooms than bedrooms.

I noticed he bought it in October of 2021.  Lightly used. No kidding. Like it was used half the time between April and the end of July in 2022.  I wonder if he paid cash. IT looks like a room for him and a room for his folks when they visited. Nice neighborhood.  Do you supposed it is a McMansion candidate?
