I went through a bunch of HOF players careers to see if I could find one who had an off year after they had started having great years. While it's way too early to say Soto is going to be a HOF player if somebody someday is going to sign him to a half billion-dollar contract, I would think that's the type of player they would expect. There's probably some out there but I really couldn't find one not counting one's who were at the end of their career. My point is over a 162 game schedule historically great players don't fall off so much. That would suggest maybe more is going on with the injury although his year was off before any injury concerns. If he rebounds next year it's possible all the contract and trade talk was the culprit.

It’s not a lot of time that players that start out this strong at this age move teams, for sure
