Well, at least we got a hit

Which is pretty impressive.

I don't know even how you'd begin to approach hitting this stuff.  99-102 well-located with a nasty slider at 93-95 is approaching the point of just sit fastball, guess the location, and hope you make contact.  Against this lineup, it's just abuse.  And that's without him even mixing in anything else.

Good decision for the Mets to give DeGrom one more start against a AAAA lineup

I think the thing to watch the rest of the year is Ruiz ABs and his avoiding Ks.

He’s also been avoiding HRs.

Has anyone figured out how he increased his velocity so much at an advanced age. Someone should bottle that. Without the injuries part.

what they say is he came to pitching late, so part of it is getting the motion and muscles aligned

Delusionally positive Carpenter is one of the most annoying iterations.

After a really shaky 1st inning Abbot has pitched a nice game.

Might want to stop pitching Lindor low in the zone.

Columbus Clippers' announcer notes that on this date in 1907 Walter Johnson pitched his first game for the Washington Nationals / Senators. Did Bob C. miss that?

Cavalli done for the night. Pitched 4 innings, 5 hits, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, hit the same guy twice and almost hit (him?) a third time. 85 pitches and 50 strikes. Maybe the umpire's strike zone was small...Adams complained a couple times.

I think I'll be watching more minor league ball from here on.

Incidentally, Abrams listed as SS for the Red Wings. I guess that's where he will go, at least for a while.
