I'd like to get some MLB innings before that UCL blows out.

They don't have to add him to the MLB roster until the end of next year, so there's a judgment call about when to start his clock and options. If you think there's a chance that he won't start the season in Washington next year, then there's a risk to premature call up. Also, if you think the UCL is still dicey, then you probably don't want a Cavalli scenario in which he accrues service time on the 60 day IL for a year plus.

Absolutely.  He's thrown 44 innings this year total, and has averaged 4 IP per start throughout the minors.  He's not ready to throw 90 pitches 30x/year in MLB.  Also makes little sense to burn a year of team control next year when he'll just be 22.  Let him go to the bullpen and slowly build himself up, and wait til at least May for a callup to prevent him from becoming FA eligible until after the '32 season.

Seems like he's ready: 5IP, 2H, 1ER, 3BB, 10Ks

Let him finish out in Harrisburg, he's coming off injury.

The Double A season ends this week. Hes only pitched 54 innings so far. At the very least, they could bump him to Triple A for the first week in September. Then maybe let him nag on the MLB squad in 1-2 inning spurts

So do it then. I didn't realize how few innings he has under his belt this year.

He was out for 3 months with a UCL sprain that was supposed to have him sidelined for 2 weeks.  He needs to rest that thing, could easily tear and require TJ.

At no point is any UCL sprain only two weeks for a pitcher.

Per Andrew Golden:

Quote
Jarlin Susana exited today’s Harrisburg Senators game in the second inning with Delino Deshields and a trainer.

He knelt on the ground after throwing the pitch, but was a bit unclear from the video what the injury was.

TJS surgery is just a rite of passage for pitchers these days.

"right triceps soreness" per Zuck, which is what they announced was the issue with Sokora before he went under the knife.

I imagine he's done for the year, and maybe next.  But this is a bullpen guy no question.

Yeah that's a TJ. Nats will slow play it and he'll wait months longer than needed.

I mean, at this point it doesn't matter. If he gets it now, he doesn't pitch until 2027. If they wait until next April, he doesn't pitch until 2027

Sunshine: they're not accruing any MLB service time like Josiah Gray is and Cade Cavalli did, and won't be FAs until their age 30/31 seasons.

The Nats head of player development is on the broadcast tonight. Says Susana had an mri earlier and they are just waiting on results.
