Trade Deadline 2022 - Completed Deals
« Topic Start: August 01, 2022, 11:50:51 AM »
Nationals trade Ehire Adrianza for the Braves #29 prospect, OF Trey Harris.

Looks like the Braves missed having him around.

JCA Note - as mentioned below, this thread is for completed deals not involving Soto or Bell.  Those deals get their own threads

I posted that in the other trade deadline deal thread.

I think in the past there has been a thread for completed deals versus rumors. Mods can toss this back in with that thread if they prefer.

Reminiscent of getting Lane Thomas for Jon Lester last year. Anything for Adrianza is a haul.. Clear up the 40 man spot and get Harris to AAA and see if there is anything there.

Let's use this thread to discuss completed deals not involving Soto or Bell.  A Bell or a Soto deal gets its own thread.

Did not have Adrianza being the first guy to go. Got a warm body for him.

This Trey Harris guy's name can also be spelled as "Salary Relief" but I'm interested. He seemed to be a promising player and then in 2020 it completely fell apart.

I wouldn't be surprised if with his age he is sent up to Rochester. About to be a bunch of guys up there sent up to the big club Tuesday and Wednesday. Going to be lots of ABs available.

Trey Harris stats. Like many a minor leaguer unable to keep it going in Double A.

Harris seems like a guy who will compete for a backup OF role next year. Doubt he's any good, but maybe a new org and scenary (3 seasons in AA is tough on anyone) can get him going. Doubt it, but profile is there for a backup OF role, which is fine. We need more position players in AAA who aren't just guys hanging on to the last bit of their career.

I heard the Adrianza move was figured out on an on-line job website, eHire.

I've watched quite a bit of Trey Harris. He was a steady performer on Mississippi's Southern League championship team of 2021. He's a decent ballplayer. Hopefully he gets assigned to Rochester immediately so we all can see what he can do.

Side note to the Adrianza deal - The Braves DFA'd Robby Cano to make room for Adrianza. Looks like he's done. Cano hit .150 with 3 teams this season in limited plate appearances. Adrianza goes back to Atlanta with a hefty .179 mark in 94 AB.

Yeah, he's not awful.  I've seen him in person a few times (live in a Southern League city).  Guys like him are a dime a dozen in AA in terms of performance, but he does have a little more upside than most.  He's been struggling with soft breaking stuff from righties and changeups from lefties, both when coming off 93-94+ fastballs.  He doesn't struggle with the fastballs.  Not a rare set of issues, but one you start really running into in AA.

Athletically and defense-wise he's fine in the corners but I don't think he can handle CF.  Agree I'd try him in AAA.  I'm not sure he's going to learn anything seeing the same crap over and over.

A PTBNL in real or in fantasy baseball?

Fantasy football. Trout controls the decision.

LOL.

Pedersen should have followed up with a knuckle sandwich, but with the times being what they are now and everything.....not happening. He did the smart thing. Personally, I would have laid him out, but admittedly, I'm not that smart or restrained.
