Anibal had a promising start.
His ERA is 7.20. I guess that’s good for our Nats.

Clip takes them out 1-2-3. So why was Machado called up over and over?

And Anibal pitched well except for those two homers. First time back...will get stronger.

If Jo Jo could throw out his HRs he would win the Cy Young this year.  LOL.

Anibal was terrible in 2020 and I believe he is toast. Thanks Anibal for a great 2019.  An unsung hero that year.

I would think they could get something for Clippard at the deadline?

what was it? 10 scoreless innings or appearances before tonight without giving up a run?

11 innings, 10 appearances.

Bottom line is they weren't releasing him or another pitcher to make room on the 40 man roster. As soon as Rainey was put on the 60 day il, they brought up Clip.

Nice job. I get what the issue was, but bottom line is he would have won us games by being better than guys they didn't want to cut.

Bullpen has zero walks in four innings.

Bullpen has only given up one run in four innings.

Wright only gave up one walk in seven innings and only two runs.

Funny how those things seem to line up.

As I mentioned during Gray's last start, Scherzer won the Cy Young while leading the NL in homeruns allowed. Strikeout pitchers who pound the zone are going to have their mistakes go far.

Reds relief pitcher just made the mistake of walking Carpenter on 4 pitches and then Torres took him deep. Then he walked another guy.

It was silly, too, because some of those dudes they didn't want to cut have no realistic prospect of ever being significant pieces of anything.  For example, Jordan Weems is 29 and can't throw the ball over the plate.  That's not something that magically appears at age 30.  Sure, he doesn't give up a ton of hits, but it doesn't matter because every time he goes give one up, the two jackasses he's walked are already in scoring position. There's no reason that dude should be near a major league roster.

Game should be tied.
And the home plate ump should be fired
Can’t wait for robots to replace this crap

Jansen looks like he's toast.  I hate these relief pitchers who act like throwing a baseball is a robotic series of 47 separate actions that must be performed before they come set, but he looks shot even after he goes through his litany of late-career Jose Valverde stupidity - that is, he does that crap and then pitches like late-career Valverde too.

Called third strike with no one out and the ball was way out side

Oh, I agree. I just think that when you look at the HR leaders, you can distinguish strikeout guys like Gray, Chris Bassitt, Charlie Morton and Eric Lauer from the sucky ones.
