Stealth tank.  Ted is playing 4D chess. Most teams tanking don’t have $50 million a year players.

Now that Sarver is gone and Jordan is selling he may be the worst owner in the NBA. I don’t think he’s necessarily a bad guy, but he loves empowering incompetent GMs and keeping them for years after it’s clear they are terrible

i don't fault Tommy for the team he built. This should be at least a .500 team if healthy, if not better. I fault him for keeping WUJ around when he should have been gone no later than the ASB.

I think this team tops out at .500. They have a guy would would be a great third and a good second option getting paid the super max, their best two players up for new contracts, and a string of high floor Lowe ceiling draft picks that have all managed to disappoint. They’re going nowhere and don’t really have the assets to improve. I blame Ted for never being to rebuild, but Sheppard takes a lot of the blame for the drafts

I think you are overrating the talent. But you are right about WUJ.  That’s also on Ted. He doesn’t want to pay two coaches (or GMs). I think the recent drafts should cost Tommy his job. Should have been able to get one decent player with several top ten picks.

Well, Kispert has been decent. Davis has looked decent as well. Deni vacillates between looking like Scotty Pippen and Pippy Longstocking. Rui is finally contributing in LA after a slow start. They are all role players, not superstars, but none were drafted higher than 9.

Would you rather be Detroit who has drafted #5 & #13, and #1 in the last two years and is still awful?

Yes I would rather be Detroit.  They have high end talent and will get another high pick this year. Maybe Wembayana.

Kispert can shoot but is about the worst player on the team defensively.  Defense of the team’s major problems.

The Wizards could have had Tyler Herro or Cam Johnson or Grant Williams instead of Rui. They could have had. Could have had Tyrese Halliburton instead of Deni. Could have Sengun instead of Kispert. Any number of guys instead of Davis.  At least Ernie was able to pull off some trades to cover his drafting.  The team is what its record shows it is.  Every team has injuries. They are in NBA purgatory unless they can get lucky and get a top guy in the draft this year.  It’s really a sad thing.  No coach is going to save them.

Detroit has a path up. If their young guys develop, they will be decent, it just takes a few years for guys to develop. How far down the Detroit roster do you have to get before they'd say yes to a straight up trade for any Wizards player? Over the next 5 years, the Wizards are positioned worst than just about any other NBA team. Our super max star isn't isn't a star, but he's getting paid like one. None of our recent pick look like they will ever be a major part of a winning team. The guys that we traded for are about to be very overpaid, either here or elsewhere. If they stay, we'll be a luxury tax payer whose ceiling is the play in. If they don't, we finally have a chance at a rebuild, but we don't have any excess draft capital.

Orlando seems to be in good position also. Taking Banchero instead of Holmgren or the other guy was a good move. Frank Wagner is good also.  They will get another top pick this year. They gave up on mediocrity a couple years ago and traded Vucevic and Gordon. Houston has some good young players also. They all won’t be good but at least there is some hope. I’m more fed up with the Wizards at this point than ever. The Beal signing was unforgivable. And now they will probably overpay to keep Kuzma. For as said maybe a first round playoff exit as the ceiling.

I would have liked to have drafted Jalen Suggs.

I would jump for joy if we could draft a 'bust' as bad as Suggs

I will be hilarious is Ted pays the luxury tax rather than break up a team that finishes 12th in the East

Can’t say I follow Orlando closely but he seems to have been a not so great pick. Maybe injuries have taken their toll. Not a good shooter.  36 percent this year overall shooting and 21 percent for threes. That won’t cut it.

Yea. If I don’t laugh I will cry.  The state of the DC sports teams in general is laughable for sure.

Johnny Davis looking like a real NBA player. Maybe the G League time helped him. Fun watching the team without Beal and Kuzma hogging the ball.

Chris and Drew are really good.  They deserve better than the crap this team put forth in the 2022-2023
season.  We the fans got shortchanged once again...and so the misery will continue with our beloved Nationals in 2023.  Borderline surreal.

Am I bad person for wishing that Beal wound have violently assaulted that guy in Orlando?  So we could void his contract.

I’m not sure. I really don’t want to think about it. And now what looks like a useless victory tonight.
