Can Ehire play off or are they going to burn 2 players here?

He's reasonably competent in left.  Don't know if he's ever played CF or RF in the majors.

a little lineup flexibility is good. The Nats seem to be less flexible than a lot of otherteams. Ehire and Cesar, mostly.

On the other side, they don't need to be as defensively flexible because they have so many switch hitters.  With Adrianza, they finally have a competent backup SS.  The only real hole defensively and for platoon strategy is they don't have a second defensively adequate CF.

Hell, they only have one outfielder who plays decent defense for his position, only two who hit enough for theirs, and those are three different guys.  Not a pretty picture.

Machado did his job. Nice.

As for defense and switch hitting, for a while, they were sort of platooning 3 positions- catcher, lf, and SS, with Adams, Thomas, and Alicides vs Yadi, Ruiz, and DSG.  Less of a need with Garcia now. I kind of like Ehire letting them shift around when Franco sits v RHP

No issue with the catchers. But it's a bad time when you have four guys platooning two positions when three of them shouldn't be in the majors and the fourth should never play in the field.

You know, Luis, if you actually ran out the play, instead of making umpire signals, you would have been safe

This line up can ... hit
well, they put a lot on early, but could not plate much.
