I guess MLB doesn't approve of this kind of thing

Most people don't approve of that dude.  He left his wife after knocking up her niece.

well, it was a 7 run lead.  Corbin had about 15 pitches to get to 100, so he had to weigh making the bullpen throw an extra inning in the middle of a stretch of 13 games in 13 days.  I can see wanting to get to the 8th and then trying Erasmo or Espino to close out.  didn't work, had to burn Finnegan for an inning pls, but it wasn't a crazy call.

I guess Rainey to close, Edwards and Cishek get the days off to set up tomorrow if needed.

I was arguing on line on a Phillies blog about Thomson leaving Kyle Gibson in last night.  He has given up his only run and a couple of other baserunners in the 6th but he left him in for the 7th with a 6-1 lead.  Did not go well and AZ got within 6-5.  Others said it was bad but I thought he was trying to save one bullpen arm (Hand) as the dog days approach.  Was the bottom of the AZ lineup.  Hand had to come in and pitched again today so probably not available tomorrow.  Seems like managers get hit nowadays for not lifting the starters but also for overusing their pens.

would have felt so guilty if Urias was still on my fantasy team and I had him in.

For now, the benchmark seasons look like 2008-2010 and 2021, with the 3 prior worst records being 2009, 2008, and 2021.  The 2020 Nats finished 4 games ahead of this team through 60 games. By win percentage:

2009 - .364 (59-103)
2008 - .366 (59-102)
2022 - .377 (23-38) - in progress
2021 - .401 (65-97)
2010 - .426 (69-93) (niiiiice!) (also, flip of the 2019 record)
2020 - .433 (26-34)

We are so close to the Cubs. Why are we not always on National TV all the time like them?

So our bull pen is bad, our starters this year out side of gray are not much better

A lot of that damage has come against guys left in too long.  Martinez faces the choice almost daily of (a) leave starter in too long or (b) Clay/Machado/Voth/replacements for same.  He can't win.

Pitching match-ups, like this, are games the Nats must take advantage of - so it's great to see them do so... :D

23 down, 40 to go...(currently too close to call on the 100 games...)  ;)
