If they’re in the running for worst team ever, a lot of people will pay attention

Will an historically bad record affect the team's sales price at all?

Maybe a little. The MASN issue is a much bigger hurdle.

The Nats have the worst run differential in the MLB.

I think the defense might be worst as well.

Correct although I believe the Phillies were way ahead in this category most of the season.  But the Nats are now last!

slugging hasn't been so hot, either. Not to mention baserunning.

Yes, except for pitching, hitting, and defense, this team is doing well. Hey, at least the city uniforms look great.

They'd have to go, like, 17-77.  Around .221 winning percentage.  Even the Nationals are not that bad.

I wonder how much worse they’ll get post-deadline when Bell, Hernandez, Cruz, and whatever other odds and ends that have slight value get sold off?

I don't think there was a huge tail off last year after the deadline.  They hit a bit, and were coming off a bad July.  That  said, they definitely passed a few teams in the tankathon.  They can get by with Yadi and maybe Adams at DH, even with Cruz now hitting well.  First base will be the big drop off in the line up, and I think the bullpen will be worse without Cishek and Edwards.  Nobody is getting moved from the rotation. Cesar contributes, but Ehire can play every day. I'd like to see a playable middle infielder or 3rd baseman come back in the deals unless there's a Gray-quality starter coming back.

I'm not usually a critic of Davey, but yesterday's handling of pitchers leaves something to be desired.
1. Pushing Gray into the low 100's in a 0-0 tie game without having anyone ready in the bullpen, fortunately it worked out
2. Pitching Garrett in the 9th rather than Rainey
3. Letting Garrett start the 10th, again, rather than Rainey

I also would like to see Garcia move ahead of Frankiel in the lineup.

Davey congratulated the Nats after winning Game 7. Not many managers have done that. In Washington, only Bucky Harris, but Bucky died in 1977.

1-12 vs the Marlins. Lost 17 of their last 18 games vs division opponents.

Yeah. Let’s bring him back for another year.

Frank Robinson and Davey Martinez both have a .469 winning percent with the Nats. At the Nats current pace, by year end Martinez will have a .445 winning percent, just below Jim Riggleman at .449. Acta is in no danger of being caught at .385.

Seven games under .500, August 1.  32 games under, end of season.

their July record was 8-18, their August 7-20, September record was 10-18. For completeness, October was 0-3. Basically, their tailspin started before the deadline, and they kept roughly the same pace.

The big outlier before the sale was June.  19-9.  Schwarber, Turner, Bell raked, and easily their best pitching month.

The team's for sale. Doesn't really make sense to clear the decks until they know who's going to own the team. Everything is on the table once that transaction takes place. Or maybe it takes a season for them to come in until they evaluate the operation.

let's look at it this way - Rizzo is a Lerner favorite.  They basically gave him a year's severance pay even if he's canned the second the new owner comes in.  Same for Davey. LANC.

Plus, you're not getting any serious candidates for the jobs if the team's for sale. Everything is up for change once the team changes hands.
