Rainey to the rescue. Does he have 3 more outs in him?
Emphatically yes!

Nats vs Finnegan
W 2-0   L 0-2
a lot of those hits were bleeders against the shift. Still, with his stuff, he needs Ks. It is a little rut. Use him as the #4 or #5 guy, with Rainey and Edwards the best, and the hotter of Cishek, Arano, Ramirez, and Finnegan #3.

I guess it was good today that the Nats closer has been resting most of the first two months.

What is the record for HR’s allowed by a pitcher in a single season. That record will likely be eclipsed by Gray.

Bert Blyleven 1986 with 50 HR's

Austin Voth: tested for five seasons, adequate in 2019, and failed in the others

Andres Machado: tested in 2021 and failed. Tested in 2022 and has failed

Pick one and replace him with Clippard.

they need to activate Strasburg if he's healthy, perhaps for a 6/11 start. Then on 6/19, they have to send down or release another pitcher to get to 13. I think the action forcing event for Clippard will be either if he can opt out or if they want to showcase him a bit before a trade. I don't think Machado would have been brought up with such a short leash that 1 game would lead to his release. They would have gotten rid of him and brought up Clip already.

A fun day at the park, a few more of those can make for some interesting outings

As long as Soto, gray, Ruiz, Robles, Thomas, and the young guys perform I don’t care about outcomes
